4/28/2017 Scott Darling, Car, G
The Hurricanes acquired Darling from the Blackhawks on Friday in exchange for a third-round pick in this year's draft. Carolina will have exclusive negotiating rights with Darling until July 1, when he will become an unrestricted free agent if he doesn't sign before then.

Analysis: Darling went 18-5-5 with a 2.38 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage in 32 games for Chicago in 2016-17. His save percentage ranked tied for fourth among all NHL goaltenders who started more than 25 games.
4/28/2017 Braden Holtby, Was, G
Holtby made 18 saves in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Pittsburgh in a second-round series opener.

Analysis: This certainly wasn't a confidence booster. Holtby has allowed at least three goals - in regulation - in four of his last six playoff games. He's lost five of his last six playoff games against the Penguins - four in last year's East finals.
4/28/2017 Evgeny Kuznetsov, Was, C
Kuznetsov scored a goal in the Capitals' Game 1 loss to the Penguins on Thursday.

Analysis: This was a small bright spot for Washington considering Kuznetsov was shut down by the Penguins in last year's Eastern Conference finals, getting no goals and one assist in six games. He had gone 12 straight games overall against Pittsburgh without a goal.
4/28/2017 Alex Ovechkin, Was, LW
Ovechkin scored his fourth goal of the playoffs and had two penalty minutes Thursday in a 3-2 loss to the Penguins in the second-round series opener.

Analysis: Ovechkin has 11 goals and 11 assists in 14 playoff games against Pittsburgh.
4/28/2017 Marc-Andre Fleury, Pit, G
Fleury was strong in net Thursday with 33 saves as the Penguins beat the Capitals 3-2 to open the teams' second-round series.

Analysis: Fleury had 15 saves in the third period, including a flurry of four with 3 minutes left long after he had lost his stick. ''I couldn't see the puck for a little while there, I had no stick, so I was trying to make some stops,'' Fleury said. ''It was fun. ... Try to rise up to the challenge and try to keep the team in the game. Saving that lead, when you can do it, it's a good feeling.'' He has a .934 save percentage in this postseason.
4/28/2017 Patric Hornqvist, Pit, RW
Hornqvist assisted on both of Sidney Crosby's goals Thursday, helping the Penguins beat the Capitals 3-2 to open their second-round series.

Analysis: Hornqvist has two goals and three assists through six playoff games,
4/28/2017 Sidney Crosby, Pit, C
Crosby scored two goals in 52 seconds, helping the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Washington Capitals 3-2 Thursday night in Game 1 of their highly anticipated second-round series.

Analysis: Crosby scored twice in the first 64 seconds of the second period to give him as many goals as he had points in the Penguins' series against the Capitals a year ago. ''That's how it goes sometimes,'' Crosby said. ''You don't get some for a while and then they come in bunches.'' They've come in bunches in this postseason as Crosby has racked up four goals and five assists through six games.
4/28/2017 Nick Bonino, Pit, C
Bonino scored the go-ahead goal on a breakaway with 7:24 remaining, and the Penguins defeated the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Thursday night to take a 1-0 lead in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Analysis: Bonino's second goal of the playoffs came just 4:31 after the Capitals tied the score. "Bones is a guy that's a high-stakes player," Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. "He brings his best game when the game's most important." Bonino tied for third on the team in the 2016 playoffs with 18 points to help Pittsburgh with the Stanley Cup.
4/28/2017 Ryan McDonagh, NYR, D
McDonagh scored in the Rangers' 2-1 loss at Ottawa in Game 1 on Thursday.

Analysis: He has three points in his last four playoff games.
4/28/2017 Henrik Lundqvist, NYR, G
Lundqvist made 41 saves Thursday in a 2-1 loss to the Senators in Game 1 of this second-round series.

Analysis: Lundqvist was solid but must be still wondering how Erik Karlsson's shot from an almost impossible angle beat him with 4:11 left in the third period, and was ultimately the game-winner.
4/28/2017 Ryan Dzingel, Ott, LW
Dzingel scored in Game 1 of Thursday's second-round series against the Rangers.

Analysis: He has a point in back-to-back games.
4/28/2017 Craig Anderson, Ott, G
Anderson stopped 34 shots in Thursday's 2-1 victory over the Rangers in Game 1 of their second-round series.

Analysis: He is 17-16 with a 2.23 goals-against average for his playoff career.
4/28/2017 Erik Karlsson, Ott, D
Karlsson's shot from an almost impossible angle beat Henrik Lundqvist with 4:11 left in the third period, sending the Ottawa Senators to a 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers in the opener of their second-round playoff series on Thursday night.

Analysis: It was Karlsson's first goal and seventh point of the playoffs. The 26-year-old defenseman, who has been playing with a foot injury, also logged more than 28 minutes in the win.
4/27/2017 John Gibson, Anh, G
Gibson stopped 27 of 31 shots in Wednesday's 5-3 series-opening loss to the Oilers.

Analysis: Gibson doesn't appear to be a good fantasy option during this series. He's facing a potent Oilers offense and has lost four of five starts this season against Edmonton, posting a mediocre .904 save percentage.
4/27/2017 Cam Talbot, Edm, G
Talbot stopped 33 shots in Edmonton's 5-3 series-opening win over Anaheim on Wednesday.

Analysis: Talbot has mostly performed well in his first postseason as a starter. He did give up five goals and get pulled from a Game 4 loss at San Jose in the first round, but in the Oilers' other six playoff games, he's allowed a combined 10 goals.
4/27/2017 Jakob Silfverberg, Anh, RW
Silfverberg had a goal and two penalty minutes in Wednesday's series-opening loss to Edmonton.

Analysis: Silfverberg has three goals through five playoff games after previously scoring just eight in his first 49 postseason contests.
4/27/2017 Ryan Getzlaf, Anh, C
Getzlaf had a power-play goal, an assist and two penalty minutes in Wednesday's series-opening loss to the Oilers.

Analysis: Getzlaf has four goals and three assists through just five playoff games, leading the Ducks in points this postseason after doing so during the regular season with 73. He has nine points in six matchups with Edmonton this season.
4/27/2017 Patrick Eaves, Anh, RW
Eaves scored in the Ducks' 5-3 loss to the Sharks in Wednesday's opener of their second-round series.

Analysis: Eaves has scored in back-to-back games after failing to net one in Anaheim's first three playoff games. He had a career-high 32 goals during the regular season.
4/27/2017 Leon Draisaitl, Edm, C
Draisaitl had a huge game in Edmonton's second-round series opener versus San Jose with a goal, three assists and two penalty minutes in a 5-3 win.

Analysis: Draisaitl failed to record a point in the Oilers' first four playoff games but has come back with seven points in the last three while posting a plus-6.
4/27/2017 Adam Larsson, Edm, D
Larsson surprised everyone by scoring twice, including the game-winner, and adding an assist in the Oilers' 5-3 victory over the Sharks to open their second-round series.

Analysis: The stay-at-home blueliner scored only four goals in his other 85 games this season.
