Aug. 29 12:18 PM PT1:18 PM MT2:18 PM CT3:18 PM ET19:18 GMT3:18 AM 北京时间12:18 PM MST2:18 PM EST2:18 PM CT23:18 UAE15:18 ET18:18 - Smith has been suspended for nine games by the NFL after violating the NFL's substance abuse and personal conduct policies. Smith won't be eligible to return until Nov. 10, the day after the 49ers' game against the New Orleans Saints.
Analysis: The 24-year-old Smith, one of the NFL's top pass rushers, missed five games last season to undergo treatment at an in-patient facility following his DUI arrest Sept. 20.
July 1 11:31 AM PT12:31 PM MT1:31 PM CT2:31 PM ET18:31 GMT2:31 AM 北京时间11:31 AM MST1:31 PM EST1:31 PM CT22:31 UAE14:31 ET17:31 - Smith still has no indication from the NFL about a possible suspension for his off-field legal issues. Smith says he would hope to hear something soon, and a decision by the end of the week seems likely regarding the San Francisco 49ers' pass rusher, ahead of the regular season's Week 1.
Analysis: 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio also has no idea how long the team might be without Smith, and coach Jim Harbaugh has said the same. A multi-game suspension is conceivable, and Fangio is preparing the rest of the linebacking unit as if Smith might be gone for a prolonged period.
May 21 4:04 PM PT5:04 PM MT6:04 PM CT7:04 PM ET23:04 GMT7:04 AM 北京时间4:04 PM MST6:04 PM EST6:04 PM CT3:04 UAE (+1)19:04 ET22:04 - Smith has pleaded no contest to three felony weapons charges and two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence.
Analysis: Prosecutors say Smith faces a range of possible sentences, from spending no time in custody to a maximum of four years and four months behind bars. Sentencing is set for July 25.
May 2 1:03 PM PT2:03 PM MT3:03 PM CT4:03 PM ET20:03 GMT4:03 AM 北京时间1:03 PM MST3:03 PM EST3:03 PM CT0:03 UAE (+1)16:03 ET19:03 - The San Francisco 49ers have exercised their 2015 contract option for Smith, making the decision despite the star defender's legal trouble that included an arrest at Los Angeles International Airport just more than two weeks ago.
Analysis: The team faced a Saturday deadline to decide on Smith's immediate future, and general manager Trent Baalke suggested last week the team would keep the fearsome pass-rusher around. The 49ers will provide Smith with the support he needs to deal with his rash of off-the-field issues. Yet Baalke has made it clear there must be positive change, and soon. San Francisco realizes Smith still could face a suspension from the NFL for his DUI last September.
Apr. 25 12:04 PM PT1:04 PM MT2:04 PM CT3:04 PM ET19:04 GMT3:04 AM 北京时间12:04 PM MST2:04 PM EST2:04 PM CT23:04 UAE15:04 ET18:04 - San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke is committed to supporting Smith like a family member in the wake of his latest legal trouble - and keeping Smith around for the long haul, too. Baalke says "you continue to work as you would with any family member, you continue to work until they leave you no choice."
Analysis: Regarding a May 3 deadline whether to exercise Smith's 2015 contract option, Baalke gave all indications he hopes to have the menacing pass rusher in a Niners uniform well into the future.
Apr. 24 12:06 PM PT1:06 PM MT2:06 PM CT3:06 PM ET19:06 GMT3:06 AM 北京时间12:06 PM MST2:06 PM EST2:06 PM CT23:06 UAE15:06 ET18:06 - The Los Angeles County district attorney's office has referred the airport arrest of Smith to the Los Angeles city attorney's office for misdemeanor consideration.
Analysis: The referral by county prosecutors was announced Thursday without elaboration. Smith was arrested April 13 at Los Angeles International Airport. Airport police say the 24-year-old player was randomly selected for a secondary screening and became uncooperative with the process, telling a TSA agent that he had a bomb.
Apr. 13 6:34 PM PT7:34 PM MT8:34 PM CT9:34 PM ET1:34 GMT9:34 AM 北京时间6:34 PM MST8:34 PM EST8:34 PM CT5:34 UAE (+1)21:34 ET0:34 - Aldon Smith was arrested Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport after authorities said he became belligerent during a security screening and threatened that he had a bomb. With the arrest, Smith is involved in three pending criminal cases.
Analysis: Smith finished with 8 1/2 sacks and 34 tackles in 11 games last season, making eight starts. He missed the first five games of the season after taking a leave of absence to undergo treatment for substance abuse.
