Analysis: "I won't take no for an answer. I won't be defeated," Smith told ElefitTV. "You've got to understand it's your life and you control it. You can't let nobody else control it no matter what they try to do to you." The 27-year-old and former seventh-overall pick was issued a yearlong ban by the NFL on Nov. 17, 2015 after his arrest for a hit-and-run on Aug. 6, 2015 in Santa Clara, Calif. He was charged with driving under the influence and vandalism.
Oct. 27, 20168:03 AM PT9:03 AM MT10:03 AM CT11:03 AM ET15:03 GMT11:03 PM 北京时间8:03 AM MST10:03 AM EST10:03 AM CT19:03 UAE11:03 ETNaN: - Smith has applied to the NFL to be reinstated from his one-year suspension, asking Commissioner Roger Goodell to be allowed back on the field once his ban for violating the league's substance-abuse policy ends on Nov. 17.
Analysis: Smith was suspended for one year last November for violating the substance-abuse policy. That stemmed from an arrest in August on charges of drunken driving, hit and run and vandalism, which led to his release by the San Francisco 49ers. Smith signed with Oakland last September and played nine games before being suspended for a second time by the NFL.
July 25, 20168:48 AM PT9:48 AM MT10:48 AM CT11:48 AM ET15:48 GMT11:48 PM 北京时间8:48 AM MST10:48 AM EST10:48 AM CT19:48 UAE11:48 ET14:48 - Smith, currently serving a one-year suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, may now be investigated for an online video. A league source told ESPN the NFL will investigate whether Smith has violated the conditions required of a suspended player seeking reinstatement to the league. An online video shows an unidentified man and woman talking about a hand-rolled cigarette. The video is archived in a Periscope account that Smith has used.
Analysis: The woman tells the man in the video that he "shouldn't even be posting that" as the man holds the lit cigarette. The video cuts off immediately after the man says, "They don't know it's me. It's not like I put 'Aldon Smith.'" Smith spent the 2015 season with Oakland after being released by the 49ers. He compiled 28 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks in nine games last season. The pass rusher re-signed with the Raiders in April even though he was serving the yearlong suspension.
Apr. 4, 201612:12 PM PT1:12 PM MT2:12 PM CT3:12 PM ET19:12 GMT3:12 AM 北京时间12:12 PM MST2:12 PM EST2:12 PM CT23:12 UAE15:12 ET18:12 - The Oakland Raiders have signed Smith to a two-year contract to return to the team after his yearlong suspension ends next November.
Analysis: Smith signed the contract Monday but will not be able to re-join the team until after his suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy ends Nov. 17. Smith must be reinstated by the commissioner before he is able to return. He can apply 60 days before the suspension ends but will not be allowed to participate in the offseason program or training camp.
